Behind Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, there so many attractions where you can go & enjoy there. We have given a list below, of some of the important places at and around Ranthambore National Park.

Zone system

There are 5 different zones for tourists inside the National Park (NP) and each one is numbered from 1 to 5. Besides there are four other zones, numbered 6,7,8 and 9 in the adjoining Sawaimadhopur and Sawai Mansingh sanctuary. At the time of entry, each vehicle is allotted a zone and it not allowed straying from their allotted zone. Within the zone, the vehicles can go anywhere on the network of tracks that exists in the zone. The zones are allotted at the time of booking the safaris.

Mostly hotelier & travel agents do cheating with guests as they explain it like National Park. So, it is mean job and injustice to tourists. We should be bewaring of such type of hoteliers and agents.

Kundal Sanctuary

It is also an attractive natural beautiful sanctuary. It is the second Eco- Tourism site located within the Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary. It is located 15 km from Sawai Madhopur on the Sawai Madhopur- Kalibhat road & adjacent to the next area is the Zone number 1 which is Ranthambhore National Park. Kundal Sancturay spreads over an ancient Aravalli & Vindhyan mountain range which makes a very rich in biodiversity.  The flora in it includes, Dhok, Salar, Cgurel, Butea with very rare fauna like Sloth bear, wild Boar, Chital. Chinkara, Jackal, Sambar and Blue bull. It is also well for its resident leopards that is found frequently roaming in this area. This is rather special as leopard and sloth bear are very difficult to see in Ranthambhore National Park. There is good chance to see Chinkara which is quite rare in National Park. There are very shy and normally found in two or three. They are most elegant and attractive antelopes to be found in this zone.

 It is also known as zone no.6. Mostly hotelier & travel agents do cheating with guests as the y explain it like national park.  So it is mean job and injustice to tourists. We should be bewaring of such type of hoteliers and agents.

Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary

This is beautiful & charming Sanctuary is the centre of tourist’s attraction. It is located at 10 km from Sawai Madhopur city. It is pregnant with beautiful natural sights, sky-kissing mountains; some hillocks with gentle slopes are part of hilly area of famous mountain chain Vindhyas.  It is spread across an area of 127.76 sq. km. The flora of this area includes Dhok. Salar. Churel, Burea with very rare fauna like Sloth bear, wild boar, Caracal, Chital, Chinkara, Hyena, jackal and Sambar.

Devpura Irrigation Dam with is a worthy source of water for wild life and good habitat for aquatic flora and fauna. There are two Eco- Tourism sites,”Balas and Kundal” located within the Sawai Man Singh wild life Sanctuary.

Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary (Eco- Tourism Site) Balas

Attractive spot “Balas” is situated 9 km. away from Sawai Madhopur near the “Sita Mata Khoho.” Which is an attractive picnic spot for local people .This area is a beautiful combination of two different mountain ranges ancient Arawalli and Vindhyas. Due to these two mountain ranges, area is very rich in beauty and tourists’ choice.  The Vindhyas system is characterized by flat table tops (plateaus) locally known as “Dang” and Aravallis are characterized by sharp ridges. Dang have been laid by trails and also motorable path have been laid to watch and enjoy Dang’s beautiful views. They constitute elevated rocky slopes, cliffs and flat bottoms with deep and fertile soil. Maha-kho and Chidi-kho are two khos which are very rich in mist. They have water and mist throughout the year.

Ranthambhore Fort 

This fort is ancient glory of Rajputs. It is near by 1000 years old and is situated on the top of the hill which offers a glorious and attractive view of Ranthambhore National Park. It is one of oldest forts of warriors-breeding land Rajasthan.  It is situated in the heart of the park. The fort possesses beautiful architecture, natural beauty and beautiful birds and agile and dangerous wild animals. It is situated in the middle of Vindhyas and Aravalli mountain range. The fort is huge, splendid, and attractive. It spreads across vast geographical area that extends 3 kms in the East - West and about 6 kms. in the North – South direction. The infrastructure of the fort is marked by various lakes, cenotaphs, ancient steep wells, guard-posts, temple, tombs and summer palaces etc. All bearing witness to Ranthambhore’s varied and fascinating history. It is open with the rising and setting the sun. You can have visit of it after the morning safari to escape the time of evening safari. It is the best place for birding and occasionally panthers use this area.

Tri-Netri Ganesh Temple (Three eyed)

Trei-netra means three eyes, it is so famous that millions and millions visitors come to visit this place. They pray to Lord Ganesh and fulfill their desires. This is also the centre of faith, devotion and admiration of: The Hindu. Most of Hindu pilgrims come here to place devotional flowers before God Ganesh. They do so far seeking their blessings and to get merry of   Ridhi-Sidhi provider. Various type of shops are installed here shopkeepers earth both money and joy of the fair. This temple has filled the empty tape of many mothers and empty pockets of true devotees. Devotee from the every corner of India come here with empty laps and returns with filled lap and wealth. Such is the magic power of Tri-Netra Ganesh Ji

 

Rameshwaram Ghat (70 Kms)

Rameshwara Ghat (temple) is situated at the meeting point of the Chambal, Banas and Sheep Rivers at border of Rajasthan & M.P. states.  Sri Rama temple and lord Shiva Linga are very old which main attractions for Hindu pilgrims are. Parasaram Ghat is also famous for, “Chaturbhujnath Temple “. Deep and silent waters of the Chambal with lots of crocodile, dolphins & migratory birds make it interesting for boating.  On day of the ‘Kartick Purnima’(full Moon), there is a very big fair held on both sides of the border. Therefore, it is good to see village & cultural life for tourists.

 

Kandhar Fort

Khandar Fort is the fort of Taragarh of medieval times located -40 km east of Sawai Madhopur. The fort has    Indian Architectural Standards and is situated on the Steep hillock whose lower part has a gentle slope. The shape of fort is triangular with its base in the North-West and apex to the South-East. From ground level it is 260 meters and from sea level it is 500 meters high. It is quite big and total area is more than 2sq. km. with a maximum length of about 1 km and breadth about 1.5 km. It has high and winding walls make it more strong and safe with shooting points fixed at different angles.  Strategically it is so designed that no invader can easily capture it.
